You want to take a break from playing online blackjack, but still want to do something with blackjack. There are two fantastic movies that involve blackjack card counting. The movie 21 totally revolves around blackjack, whereas Rain Man has a crucial blackjack sequence. Here is a brief look at what these movies offer, keeping in mind not to play spoiler.

21, which is another name for blackjack, is a fictionalised version of the exploits of the MIT blackjack team. Professor Micky Rosa and his team consisting of his students Choi, Fisher, Jill, and Kianna are already working the blackjack tables in Vegas casinos and making a lot of money. Another student Ben Campbell needs funds to pay for medical school so he joins the team. He becomes a major player in the team. Jill and Ben fall in love. However Fisher becomes jealous of Ben's success and starts creating scenes frequently. This affects his play at the blackjack tables. Once, he continues playing even after he is signalled to leave, losing $200,000. Campbell is removed from the team, but continues playing alone. He is beaten by the casino bouncers and warned not to engage in card counting again. Rosa and Campbell unite for a final fling at the blackjack tables, but that is not where the tale ends.

Rain Man is a story about two brothers Charlie and Raymond Babbit. Their wealthy father leaves Charlie with only a vintage Buick to him, whereas Raymond receives an inheritance of $3 million. Raymond is detected with autism and is institutionalised. Charlie discovers that Raymond has an amazing memory and can memorize a long string of cards. He manages to get Raymond out and use his special ability to count cards at blackjack tables in casinos. Charlie teaches Raymond the rules of blackjack and how he can count cards and the two brothers leave for Vegas. If you want to know what happens at the casino, then you should see the movie.

Raymond Babbit had a special ability of remembering cards. But in the card counting system of the MIT blackjack team, you do not have to do that. Cards are assigned simple positive and negative values. Their running count indicates when the cards in the shoe are in the players’ favour. It is at that time secret signals are sent to the other players. They converge on that particular table, place large bets and make the money.
