One of the attractions of online craps is that it is played with dice, which makes it different from the card games and the slots games. The problem with online craps is that it offers many bets with unattractive house edges. Therefore online craps players have to understand and master the Free Odds Pass Line Bet, which is one of the most exciting and advantageous bets.

The Free Odds Pass Line Bet usually lasts over a number of rolls of the dice and is wagered in stages. Therefore it is essential to understand the process of online craps from the beginning. The come out roll is the term for the first roll of a new craps session. The first part of the bet in question is the Pass Line Bet and this bet has to be placed before the come out roll. Otherwise the player has to wait for the session to end and place the Pass Line Bet before the next come out roll. The Pass Line bet wins immediately if the come out roll is a 7 or an 11. The Pass Line Bet loses immediately if the come out roll is a craps, which is a total of a 2, a 3 or a 12. In the event that any other number is rolled, that number is established as a point. As a reminder to the player a marker is placed on that number in the online craps layout. The dice are rolled again, with the Pass Line Bet being carried forward, until the point or a 7 is rolled. The Pass Line Bet wins if the point is rolled again before a 7 and loses if a 7 is rolled before the point. The bet pays even money and has a house edge of 1.4%.

This was the simple Pass Line Bet. The Free Odds part of the bet is an additional wager that has to be placed after the point has been established but before the dice are rolled again. The craps game in most online casinos offers two Free Odds Bets. In the Single Free Odds bet the additional wager has to be equal to the original wager. In the Double Free Odds bet the additional wager has to be twice the amount of the original wager. The Pass Line and the Free Odds bets win if the point is rolled again before a 7 and lose if a 7 is rolled before the point. The Pass Line Bet pays even money as before. The advantage of the Free Odds Bet is that it has no house edge. It pays as per the mathematically correct odds, which depend on the point called. If the point is a 4 or a 10 the payout is 2 to1; if the point is a 5 or a 9 the payout is 3 to 2 and if the point is a 6 or an 8 the payout is 6 to 5. The house edge of the combined wager is 0.8% for the Single Free Odds Bet and 0.6% for the Double Free Odds Bet.
