Play ‘n Go is known as a leading gaming supplier to online casinos. Brands like InterCasino display the awesome range of Play ‘n Go online video slots. But now the gaming software provider is in the news for another equally good reason. Play ‘n Go has been nominated for five awards at the 8th edition of the Women in Gaming awards (WIGs). The event was instituted in 2010 to highlight the outstanding contribution women have made to their individual gaming companies and the industry as a whole. It is a popular feature of the annual online gaming calendar. This year the awards ceremony is being held at the Savoy Hotel in London on May 12.

Leading women from across the global gaming industry will be present on the occasion, including a large contingent from Play ‘n Go. The awards that the software provider has been nominated for include Team of the Year, Best Place to Work and the Diversity Award. Individual nominees from Play ‘n Go are Toni Mills for Employee of the Year and Lena Yasir for Leader iGaming.

Responding to the recognition, Johan Törnqvist at Play ‘n Go said, “We are very pleased to have picked up so many nominations for this year's Women in Gaming awards, and it is testament to the great work all those nominated have put in for Play ‘n Go over the last few years.” Johan pointed out that the company rewards employees based on merit alone and not any other factor. It is hardly surprising that Play ‘n Go is in the forefront of WIGs because 46% of its management positions are currently occupied by women. You will also see more of the Play ‘n Go women in the years to come.

Women from other well-known software providers and online casinos are also in the fray for a total of 15 awards that include some for land based gaming as well. Microgaming has 10 nominations, including multiple nominations for the same category. Playtech has 14 and NetEnt has 5 nominations. The online casinos whose women have been nominated include Mansion group, Bgo, LeoVegas and Mr Green. The most coveted award will be Industry Pride of the Year. There are no nominations for this award. The judges will decide who is the exceptional woman whose vision, innovative approach and success make her an outstanding role model that will inspire more women to choose a career in the gaming industry. Watch this space after May 12 for the winners.
