One of the most reputed awards ceremonies in the online gaming industry is the EGR Operator Awards. The awards for 2017 will be presented in a function to be held at Grosvenor House in London on October 26. Awards are presented in many categories associated with online gaming. But the most popular one is for the Game of the Year. One of the nominees for this award in 2017 is Viking Runecraft. This video slot is from the portfolio of the specialist online casino games developer Play 'n Go. It can be played at online casinos like InterCasino.

This online video slot, which transports players to the world of Norse Gods and Viking mythology, has been a smash hit since its launch in April 2017. Players have been enjoying this omni-channel release on mobile devices like smartphones and laptops and on desktops. Johan Törnqvist, CEO of Play 'n Go, said, "Viking Runecraft has been a huge success since we released it earlier in the year, and I'm thrilled it's been nominated for EGR Game of the Year.” He lauded the designers and developers in his organisation for producing such an immersive and hugely playable game that has introduced a number of new features to the slots market. Tornqvist added, “The game has achieved an extraordinary feat in seeing its popularity increase since launch, and its revenue and average play time has consistently outperformed the market.”

One of the innovations in Viking Runecraft is that it is played on a 7x7 grid of symbols instead of the usual 5 reels. The appealing graphics and artwork is inspired by the Viking epics. The symbols on the grid are runes, weapons and amulets from Norse mythology. Clusters of identical symbols on the grid award the payouts. The winning combinations disappear and create room for new symbols to trickle down. If winning clusters are formed again then the process repeats. The Norse gods Thor, Freya, Odin and Heimdall make regular appearances in the 3D animated avatars during the game and award the bonus features. These are multi-level games and each level is associated with one of the deities. Each deity adds wilds to the reels in specific patterns. The bonus coin on the left side of the grid spins after each win, giving you a chance to unlock an extra cash prizes.

The winner will be decided by attendees of this year's awards. Other nominees include Age of the Gods from Playtech, Red Riding Hood from NetEnt, Jurassic World from Microgaming and Vikings Go Berserk from Yggdrasil Gaming.
